London Junior League (1991 + Younger)
Play-off Final, Whitgift School, South Croydon.
Sunday 5th July.
Worthing 23, Croydon Amphibians 8.
Quarter Scores; - 4-1, 4-1, 8-4, 7-2.
The final of this years Junior London league looked like being a tough affair against our long time rivals in their home pool. Add to this that 6 of our squad of 10 had already played earlier in the day at Aldershot in the Army tournament and we were expecting a tough battle to win the title.
An outstanding first quarter saw the team take control and after this period we were always in command.
Croydon didn't help themselves with one of their best players being excluded before the end of the first quarter and as a result we were able to dictate the play for long periods.
Our attacking play always caused the opposition problems and we scored a number of fine goals.
The win secured the London Junior league for the second year running and this event is really the unofficial Championship for teams from all parts of London and the South-east. The club should be very proud of this group of boys who have worked hard and developed together over the past few years and have become a formidable team.
