Here's just a little list of words that I learn while reading manga/watching anime. Not an extensive list, but it's more to help those who also see some words but don't know what they mean. Do note, I'm not fluent in Japanese, nor am I claiming to be.

A

Aibou - it means "partner." (found out from Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Anzu - it means "apricot." (found out from another fan site.)

Anime - if you don't know what this means, you're not a S.A.M. It means "Japanese Animation."

B

Baka - it means "stupid!" (found out from Megatokyo.com)

Bakamon - it means "stupid/foolish person." (found out from a site.)

Bishoujo - it means "pretty girl." (found out from a manga book.)

Bishounen - it means "pretty boy." (found this out because everyone calls Bakura/Ryou a bishounen.)

Bishie - short for "Bishounen" (redone from constant complaints ^^)

C

-Chan - this is put after a name, usually after a girl's name. Example - Sami-chan. (found out from Megatokyo.com)

Chibi - it means "small, young, or mini." (my sis told me this one.)

Chi - life or life energy

Chu - means either mouse or the sound a mouse makes (Pokemon's Pika-chu)

D

Dojo - a Japanese fighting arena or fighting school.

E

Eechi - pervert (thanks to Kisha Schmidt)

G

Gomen Nasai - I'm sorry!! (Megatokyo.com)

Go - five (friend)

H

Hentai - means to be perverted. Can't put it much different, this IS for all ages, after all. (friend helped me rephrase it.)

Hikari - it means "light" or "light side." (heard about it from Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Hachi - eight (friend)

I

Inu - it means "dog." (my sis told me this.)

Ii-desu-go - That's okay. (??)

Ichi - one (friend)

J

Ju - ten (friend)

K

Kaiba - rumored to mean "seahorse." (don't remember where I heard this.)

Kawaii - it means "cute" or "adorable." (a reviewer from Fanfiction.net told me.)

Koro - it means "puppy." (heard it from Harvest Moon for SNES/ may be spelled differently.)

Kon-ichi-wah! - "Hello!" (Hello Kitty calendar)

Kyuu - nine (friend)

N

Neko - it means "cat." (heard it from a japanese site featuring cat games.)

Neko-jin - of or like a cat; cat-human; cat enthusiast. (???)

Nani - in simple terms, it is saying "Hmmm?" or "What?" (heard it from Megatokyo.com)

Ni - two (friend)

O

Otaku - it means "one obsessed with anime." It's supposed to be a huge insult in Japan. (sis told me this.)

Oi-shinobi - a ninja pursuer. (heard it from Oh my Goddess.)

Oni - demon

Onigiri - rice ball

P

Pika - electric/could be the sound electricity makes

Pocky - A type of pastry eaten in Japan. It is a biscuit stick coated with chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry/mint. Can have nuts on it. It's pretty good. (Mom bought it once.)

R

Ramen - a dish that consists of noodles and a flavoring you sprinkle on top. It's easy to make. Most animes have one character who eats this. (my sis obsessed about Ramen, that's how I know.)

Ryu - it means "dragon." (heard it from BoF1 and BoF2.)

S

Sakura - it means "cherry blossoms." (rumor)

-Sama - it means "Lord" but you put it at the end of a name. Example - Largo-sama = "Lord Largo." (heard this from Megatokyo.com)

-San - see -CHAN, but instead it's usually used after a boy's name. It's also put after someone's last name. (heard this from Megatokyo.com)

San - three.

Shiyon - four (friend)

Shichi-nana - seven (friend)

Seiyuu - it means "voice actor/actress." (heard from Megatokyo.com)

Seto - means "turmoil." (rumor)

Shinobi - means "ninja." (heard from Oh my Goddess!)

Shinryuu - Water dragon, or "god" dragon (Final Fantasy 5)

Shuriken - japanese weapon used by ninjas; throwing star. (heard from Final Fantasy 6.)

T

Takoyaki - it means "octopus dumplings." (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Touzokuku or Touzoku - it means "thief." (Thanks to Kisha Schmidt)

Tsuki - it means "moon." (???)

U

Usagi - it means "bunny/rabbit." (???)

Y

Yami - it means "darkness." (heard it from Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Yaoi - boyxboy couples. (heard it when a SetoxJoey thing started.)

Yasha - another word for "demon." (heard it from Inuyasha.)

Yuki - snow (thanks to Kisha Schmidt for telling me)

"Yuki desu ne" - "It's snowing" (thanks to Kisha Schmidt)

Yuri - girlxgirl couples. (heard it when a MaixAnzu/Te`a thing started.)

Yuugi - it means "game." (spelled with two U's thanks to friend.)
