Welcome one, welcome all! Now, if you've been here before, you may remember that this used to be Team Skitty's page. Well, after playing Pokemon Mystery dungeon, I have decided to rename the team 'Team Extreme.' Now, I know what you're thinking: What's so damn extreme about a skitty!? Well, there's a lot that's extreme about them! For instance, skitty are EXTREMELY CUTE! I mean, come on. Who doesn't love a pink kitten!?
Skitties are also EXTREMELY FAST. Speed is by far one of their best statistics, oftentimes reaching an average of fifty before anything else reaches forty! And that's fast! Sure, Rattata might be a little faster, and Magikarp might have better defense, but are they as cute as a Skitty? Hell no! I think I'd have to go and murder the judges if a Magikarp beat a Skitty in a cute contest!
Aside from being cute and fast, Skitties are EXTREMELY USEFUL. Not only do they learn Attract (infatuates enemy pokemon), Sing (puts pokemon to sleep), and Covet (steals items!), but it also has the auto-ability of Cute Charm. What THIS awesome skill does is infatuate an enemy if a physical attack hits. The percentage is only 30%, but in a jam, that's really good. And it allows you to not have to waste a turn using Attract. They also learn the skill Heal Bell, and if you're in a double match, with burns, poisons, and confusion keeping you down, this technique is a life-saver. So, I don't want to hear any crap about how useless Skitty are.
But what does that have to do with Team Extreme? Well, let's get down to the basics. The whole reason I made Team Extreme was because Skitty is my favorite pokemon. And people are ALWAYS saying how weak and pathetic they are. So, with DS in hand, I made it my goal... no, my mission to raise pokemon that people generally consider weak into big, bad monsters that you only WISH were weak as all hell. That's right. The real reason Team Extreme exists is to do JUST that. And, because of the backstory of Team Extreme, Skitty is officially the team's mascot.
Now then, what kind of pokemon qualify for Team Extreme? When you think about it, aren't all pokemon somewhat weak in some department? Well, that might technically be true, but not just any pokemon can get into the team here. No, the kind of pokemon qualified for being Extreme are ones that NO ONE thinks could ever win. Have you ever seen a person beat the Elite Four with a Magikarp? Neither have I, and as head of Team Extreme, I plan to make that a reality. Have you ever seen Skitty absolutely own Mewtwo with one, little Tackle? Nope. And that's where WE come in.
As members of Team Extreme, it will be our job... no, our sworn responsibility to raise these pathetic creatures and show the world that, yes, with the proper training, and a buttload of money, these rejects will one day rule the world. But how to do it? How can you raise pokemon like that and expect to win? Well, my friend, we offer tips for that too. But before we can go and destroy the world with a single Feebas, you need to know what pokemon actually qualify for Extreme. No, you can't go raising an Onix to level 99 and tell me it's an epic way to go. There's no glory there, because Onix is badass to begin with. The only right way to do this is to know which pokemon are considered an underdog. And I'm nice enough to show you the way.
Pokemon who qualify as being Extreme - because we all know without me, they'd just be flops on the ground.
Any, and all, of these pokemon are considered good enough to be EXTREME. Sadly, though, there's no way to carry 11 pokemon, so you WILL need to pick and choose which of these you decide to take along at any given time. Now that we have the requirements out of the way, we'd better get down to some serious business. Why on earth would anyone want to train these guys? I mean, I wouldn't want to waste hours upon hours training a Feebas. But, in the end, isn't it worth it when your level 100 Chansey devastates the Elite Four without even losing two HP? I think it is.
Now, before you all go on and tell me that any pokemon can be extreme, do take note that extreme goes into the case of 'extremely disregarded.' That's why only a few of these awesome monsters are listed. I mean, have you ever heard anyone brag about a Caterpie defeating Mewtwo? I sure haven't. And I'd like to be the one to brag about that. So, if you have any problems with the list, you'll need to either deal with it, or you'll need to email me with a complaint.
So, what does it take to be a member of Team Extreme? What do YOU have to do to help our cause? Just look at the rules below, and follow them:
1. I will not let my pokemon evolve. Doing so negates their ability to be the underdog and to prove to everyone how badass they are. This especially applies to: Magikarp, Feebas, Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple.
2. I will not get angry with my pokemon. All of them need different things to grow strong. It's not their fault if they can't knock out level 5 pokemon.
3. I will make sure to give them their vitamins. After all, these really do help, and in the long run, you'll be happy when your Chansey gains +9999 ATK because of all the protein you gave them.
4. I won't let my pokemon faint all the time. People have a lot of trouble with this. If your pokemon dies, DON'T JUST LEAVE IT LIKE THAT! Revive the poor thing! How can it get stronger if it's dead!?
5. I will make sure I always have a decent supply of potions to back my monsters up. After all, not all of them have a million HP like Chansey does, and most of them might have poor defense.
6. I will, in no way, ever teach or even use the move EXPLOSION or SELFDESTRUCT. Both are evil moves that should never have been created. Who would willingly kill their monsters, anyway!?
7. If need be, I'll use another, stronger team to beat the Elite Four so I can get oodles of cash to pump up my EXTREME team. Or, I'll use Meowth's Pay Day to make the money. In no way is it good to be broke.
I don't think those rules are too hard to follow. Sure, training your extreme team will be time-consuming, nay annoying, but in the end, it'll be worth it. Trust me.
After selecting the exclusive list to decide which extreme pokemon you're going to have, you should know just how to handle them to keep them extreme. 90% of them evolve upon level up, and only a few evolve from gender-specifics or from an evolution stone, or from another means. To counter-act this, you might want to equip them with an Everstone. For Skitty, just don't use a Moon Stone. Ever. For Combee, just get a male; they don't ever evolve. And for Chansey... well, you COULD do things to make it angry with you, but I really recommend against it. Chansey are cute.
Then again, sometimes there are items that could really decide if you win a battle or if you drown in a sea of shame. How can you tell which pokemon needs what item? Well, there are a lot of items, and it really does depend on what you're looking for and how you want to raise your pokemon. If you just don't want it to evolve, give it an Everstone and leave it at that. If your monster only knows Tackle, and you don't mind pressing B whenever it's ready to evolve, give it either a Pink Bow or a Silk Scarf to raise its normal-type moves. If you're really into EV training, find a POWER item, which I'll get to in a few minutes. There are a lot of different things to help your team. But, I'll list the ones I use, because it just makes training all the more easy for you.
There are probably more items, but those are the ones I use. Now, I said I'd go a little bit into EV training, and I plan to. I'm fairly new to it, and I won't list every monster that gives EVs, but I will give some examples to help you. EV, first and foremost, stands for Effort Values. They are little, tiny stat modifiers you get for defeating a pokemon, and each pokemon gives a different EV for attack, defense, and the like. Every pokemon game has them, but only the third generation and onwards actually lets you see what these points do.
How do you know how much EVs you have for what stat? Well, it depends on a level-up. If you get +0 - +1 in a stat, chances are you didn't get any EVs in those stats. But +2 in a stat means you have 4 points, and +3 means you have 8 points to that particular stat. Normally, you won't get higher than a +4 in a stat for a level-up, but I've gotten as high as +10 HP. It not only depends on the EVs you train for, but a pokemon's nature. Take this into consideration when EV training. Look on serebii.net to get a natures chart. I won't supply you with one.
Now, how do you get EVs? Well, a good (and expensive) way is to invest in vitamins. These raise your EVs by, I believe, 10 in a specific stat, but they only work until you have a certain amount of overall EVs in a stat. And, just because you use them, doesn't always mean you'll get a +5 on a level up if you shove 10 or more down a monster's throat beforehand. Another way (the easiest) is to fight pokemon and trainers. Not only do monsters give EVs, but some trainers do as well. I won't list the trainers, because I personally can't remember which ones do, but I've heard and read that some will add to your EVs if you (hopefully) defeat them. But, where can you find what EVs? I did say I'd give some examples, so here they are: (also note that I'm listing unevolved pokemon to make the list shorter. First stage pokemon give +2 points in the same stat, and Second stage pokemon give +3. Also note that some evolved pokemon do give different EVs than their weaker counterparts. Some of those are listed as well)
Attack EVs - these raise your ATK on level-up, and you will gain more ATK at level 100. Allows you to hit harder with moves like Tackle or Take Down
Pokemon to battle: Ekans (+1), Nidoran (+1), Machop (+1), Shinx (+1)
Defense EVs - these raise your defense on level up, and you'll gain more defense at level 100. Lessens damage done by physical attacks like Tackle.
Pokemon to battle: Metapod/Kakuna (+2), Sandshrew (+1), Onix (+1), Bonsley (+1)
Sp. Attack EVs - these raise your Sp ATK on level-up, and you'll gain more Sp ATK at level 100. Allows you to do higher damage with moves like Psybeam, BubbleBeam, and Thunder.
Pokemon to battle: Abra (+1), Butterfree (+2), Girafarig (+2)
Sp. Defense EVs - these raise your Sp DEF on level-up, and you'll gain more Sp DEF at level 100. Lessens damage done by special attacks such as Confusion and Magical Leaf.
Pokemon to battle: Tentacool (+1), Drowzee (+1), Ledian (+2)
Speed EVs - these raise your Speed on level-up, and you'll gain more speed at level 100. Determines how quickly your pokemon attacks. Easiest EV to train for.
Pokemon to battle: Rattata (+1), Pidgey (+1), Zubat (+1), Ponyta (+1)
HP EVs - these raises your pokemon's overall HP on level-up, and you'll have a ton of HP by level 100. Determines how much health your pokemon have.
Pokemon to battle: Clefairy (+2), Chansey (+2), Marill (+2), Wobbufet (+2)
Remember, EVERY pokemon gives EVs, but I'm not listing them all. If you really want a full list, look on serebii.net for it, or email me for the chart I AM working on.
Well, now I've (hopefully) explained EVs in a way that you can easily go and start EV training. A lot of better guides have better ways, but I find my simple technique to suit me. Now we're onto the final part of learning how to be EXTREME: Taking care of pokemon. Now, don't laugh at this, because if you're going to raise extreme pokemon, you need to know how to do this right. If you don't, there's a good chance your little weaklings are going to die. And, these tips are:
Make sure you have POTIONS! - I can't tell you how many times my brother has played my game and gone into battle to find that he wasted all of my potions when he didn't need them. Trainers, always, and I mean ALWAYS make sure you have restoratives! Especially if you're going to do some serious level-grinding. In the wild, you won't find a Pokemon center, and if you're wandering around Victory Road, and you're going to die when you realize that you forgot to pick up a Revive, you're screwed. So, please, remember to buy potions to heal yourself with. Even a regular potion will do. Just make sure you have SOMETHING in case trouble hits.
Don't be afraid to run - I don't normally run away, but if you're losing an uphill battle against a wild Steelix and none of your pokemon are going to win, try running away to save your skin. After all, those who live to run away, live to fight another day.
Always bring antidotes and medicines - These are as important as the potions. If you're poisoned and you're over 1000 paces from a pokemon center, you'd better hope you have an Antidote, because no amount of potions will save you, and it's really expensive to pump out Hyper Potions until you find a place to rest. So, make sure you have at least five of each of the following: Antidote, PRLZ Heal, Burn Heal, Ice Heal, Awakening.
Buy your vitamins! - Stated before, these really help you strengthen your extreme team. In fact, it's kind of a second rule of Team Extreme. If you have the money, spend it on vitamins to help your little darlings. In the long run, you'll be thankful.
NEVER USE EXPLOSION OR SELFDESTRUCT! - I don't know the asshole who thought these attacks would do any good, but I really don't think you ought to use these unless you want me to find you and blow you up. No matter the circumstance, killing your own pokemon is a stupid idea. If you have just one pokemon, and you decide it's a good idea to Selfdestruct on the level 2 Pidgey you found, then you really need to get your brain checked. So, how do you avoid this stupid move? Just don't teach your pokemon these horrible moves. Ever. Even if your life depends on it. Your pokemon will thank you, and so will I.
DEATH TO THE ELITE FOUR! - If your extreme team is strong enough, try taking on the Elite Four to really get those EVs in. Most of them have pokemon that give +3 to a stat, so that automatically is a good reason to battle them over and over again. Though, I will advise against using an entire team of Magikarp. Variety is good. Using only Tackle, especially against an Aeordactyl, is a little time-consuming. Bring a Skitty and teach it Thunderbolt to knock Lance, Drake, and Aaron out of the sky!
Pokerus - A lot of people are terrified of Pokerus. But, there's really nothing to be scared of. This is actually a really helpful 'disease' for EV training. It doubles the amount of EVs you get from defeating a pokemon. So, if you get it, use it within three days, because your pokemon will be immune once they recover. Battling the Elite Four with Pokerus will result in insane amounts of EV-gathering. I smell a good combination here...
Using those tips, you should be able to raise a team of extreme pokemon with... only moderate difficulty and frustration. So, now I've given you all I know about training pokemon and raising a team to be extreme. Can you handle the responsibility now? Will you, as a pokemon trainer, make it your mission to catch and tame the weakest of the weak and PROVE EVERYONE WRONG!? Decide your fate, and go out there. Use these tips and raise the most bad-ass team you can think of. And don't ever be afraid to say 'I'm training a MAGIKARP!' Go on! Dare anyone to take on any of your extreme pokemon, and take pride once you reach level 100. Because, that, my friends, is the whole reason we exist. To show the world how strong these underdogs can be!
