Welcome to Nekogal #3's SaGa Frontier Character guide! I know what you're thinking, "ACK! Another stupid character guide?! Why don't you make a real walkthrough already!?" Well, simple. I'm lazy. Anyway, I've seen so many people whine and cry about how this character sucks and how that character belongs in a dump, and I'm here to sort this stuff out.

First of all, and note this, each character is good at something, and sucks at something else. For instance, Fei-On is great with his fists, but you're screwed if you give him a gun. Rouge's good with magic and pretty much stinks at everything else. The key to character developement is to know their strengths and weaknesses.

Main Characters Okay, since I've played as every main character at least once, I'm going to list them first, though not neccesarily in any order.

Blue
Age: Looks around 20
Looks: The blonde guy wearing all blue
Desc.: Ah, my personal favorite, Blue is a blast to play around with! He comes from the Magic Kingdom, and is soon sent on a mission to kill his twin brother almost immediately after you select to play as him. Unlike Rouge, Blue's been brought up knowing about his mission.
Starting HP and MP: 125 HP, 50 - 70 MP (note that I'm only counting HP and MP, I'm not sure for the other stats)
Best job: If it's not clear that Blue's a magician by nature, then you need to read his bio again... and again... and again. Yes, Blue will probably be the best mage you have ever, but he really can do just about any job. Before I even finished half of his quest, I had gotten him to master guns, swords, fists, and tons of magic. Whatever you want him to do, he'll probably adapt to.
Where is he?: You can only get him if you play his scenario.

Red
Age: 18 - 20
Looks: Has blue hair, a blue shirt, and red shorts.
Desc.: My least favorite character, Red is probably the most idiotic character in the game. He's reckless, and unless he's Alkaiser, he's not too bright about being reckless, either. His mother and sister were abducted, and his father was killed. Red is now searching for whoever did this to his family.
Starting HP and MP: 120 HP (I think), 0 MP
Best job: Fighter. Plain and simple. Red can do well with any weapon, though I trained him with both a sword and with his fists. He's not much of a magic user, and if you try to train him as such, you'll be disappointed. Alkaiser is far better as a swordsman, but unless you're in serious trouble, you can't use him.
Where is he?: You can only get him if you play his scenario.

Emelia
Age: 24
Looks: Blonde with blue shirt and green skirt.
Desc.: Emelia is a supermodel! Or, was, until she quit and fell in love with Ren. But when she found him murdered, she was falsely accused and now searched for the man who destroyed her life.
Starting HP and MP: 80 HP, 0 MP
Best job: Emelia is really good as a gunman. She starts out with a knife, but when you give her a gun, she learns very quickly. She's not good with magic unless you invest careful time into training her. I usually keep her equipped with a sword and have her as a back-up in case Lute or Roufas dies.
Where is she?: You get her automatically if you play her scenario. She's in Baccarat, and you need to be on the search for Arcane magic to get her to join otherwise.

Riki
Age: 6
Looks: Like a little kid with green hair
Desc.: Riki is the cutest character SaGa has to offer us! And he's very special in that he can turn into a monster when you win the battle. Anyway, Riki's homeland is dying, and without the mystical rings to help the land, Riki's people are in danger. The elder sends Riki into the human world to collect the rings.
Starting HP and MP: 70 HP, 0 MP
Best job: Riki has no real job, and his transforming ability is risky. He cannot be trained normally, but if you get a strong morph, KEEP IT!
Where is he?: Automatic if you play his quest. Otherwise you can get him in the pub in Scrap, unless you're Asellus.

Asellus
Age: Ageless (appears around 18)
Looks: Girl wearing red dress and with green hair
Desc.: My third favorite. Asellus's tale is very dark and a bit confusing. She was running an errand for her aunt when she was run over by a carriage. When she woke up, she found herself in Facinaturu, the land of Mystics. Now Asellus travels around, trying to find out exactly what she is. Her tale has multiple endings.
Starting HP and MP: 70 HP, 10 MP
Best job: Asellus is like Blue. You can train her with anything, though I tend to make her a swordsman. She learns Sword attacks much more quickly than anything else. Do note that if you get the Mystic equipment, she will most likely be a sound mage.
Where is she?: Automatic if you play her quest. You can also get her in Emelia's quest when Emelia is snuck onto a ship at one point.

Lute
Age: Early 20's
Looks: Like a dork with purple hair and a silly hat
Desc.: I'm not sure how to feel about Lute. He is his own personality. He acts like he's in the 70s, and he's jobless. I think he might be a lazy bum because even his own mother kicks him out of his house! But hey, at least he has ample supply of alcohol to see him through. (go towards the South pass at the crossroad in Yorkland, you'll see what I mean) Anyway, there's not much I can say, my sis is at the end of his quest in less than 7 hours. And trust me, there's no character developement.
Starting HP and MP: 80 HP, 0 MP
Best Job: Well, there's not much to go by here, sadly. He sucks at magic, and his Intelligence isn't high, so you can count gunman out, too. I've never used him as a straight-out brawler, so my best advice is to give him a sword and let him go with some spiffy attacks.
Where is he?: Automatic, yada yada. With other characters, he's in the bar in Scrap.

T26O
Age: None
Looks: Like a metal trash can with rollers for feet
Desc.: T26O is actually a pretty decent character to have. And he's the most customizable out of the main characters. Apparently he used to work for someone until his ship crashed, leaving the poor tin can without memory. Thankfully a brat named Thyme repaired him, but whether or not that's a good thing isn't known yet...
Starting HP and MP: 120 HP (the highest of the main characters), 0 MP
Best Job: Because he's a robot, there's not much choice in what he can do. He can never use magic unless you equip him with the Victory Blade, and he's not good with anything except a gun until you begin to absorb some data with him. I personally equip him with 2 Hyperion Bazookas and a Vulcan and let the explosions fly!
Where is he?: If I have to say "automatic," I might need to slap you. Anyway, you can find him in Scrap, but you can't get him if you're Asellus, Emilia, or Riki.

Secondary Characters Again, I know most of the secondary characters and where you can get them. If I miss someone, email me. And, note that the bios for the SCs won't be as descriptive or have listed stats, as they're not as important as the mentioned above. And. they're not listed in any particular order!

Mei-Ling
Looks: A girl with a purple ponytail, in a pink and black dress
Best Job: Mei-Ling is great with a gun, and that's about it. She has Light Magic, but I've never ended up using her for very long. She levels up slowly, even if you manage to get her first. I'd keep her as a sharpshooter until you get Emilia or Annie, and then I'd keep her as a back-up.
Where?: In the bar in Scrap, but you can't get her if you play as Asellus.

Rouge
Looks: Like blue, except wearing red and has brown hair
Best Job: Magic Caster, plain and simple. Unlike Blue, Rouge doesn't develope well with much, though I do use him as a shooter in case he happens to run out of magic. He levels very quickly, though his DEF might be the lowest unless you equip him well.
Where?: In either Devin or Luminous, at the airport. You can't get him if you play as Blue, unless Blue loses to him in his scenario.

Fuse
Looks: Like a cop with blonde hair
Best Job: Unfortunately, Fuses is just a physical fighter through and through. He's supposedly good with a gun, but I simply keep him with the weapon he gets, which doesn't register as anything particular. I level him up to be a back-up.
Where?: In IRPO. If you're Red, you get him automatically, but if not, you'll have to be looking into the Arcane Card quest to get him.

Roufas
Looks: Like a cool dude with shades and long hair
Best Job: Swordsman through and through! This guy is a ton of fun to play with. He's great with anything you'd give him, but if you want a quick killer, just give him a sword and let him loose! Oddly enough, he combos VERY well with Blue or Rouge.
Where?: If you're Emilia, you'll get him automatically. But you need to be looking for the Runes otherwise, and you won't even be able to get him if you're Asellus, Riki, or T26O.

Annie
Looks: A blonde girl in green
Best Job: Another swordsman, with a slight skill in brawling, too. Annie is a fighter, and don't try making her a mage or you'll hate her. She learns moves very quickly, and oftentimes she learns the most powerful moves before the wimpier ones. If you need someone fast and strong, Annie's your girl. And even if you don't, use her anyway as a back-up for another person.
Where?: Outside in Koorong. You must be looking for Runes to get her. If you're Emilia, you get her automatically.

Liza
Looks: A girl with purple hair, in a red dress
Best Job: A brawler, no doubt. She can kill anything with her fists, and if not, at least make the monsters cry. She gets high HP bonuses at a level up, and she's decent in magic. If you need a brawler or to get the DSC, use Liza.
Where?: In Koorong. You must have Roufas with you for her to join. If you're Emilia, she comes automatically. You can't get her if you're Asellus, Riki, or T26O.

Doll
Looks: A girl cop with short ivory hair
Best Job: Gunner. You don't get her for long, but she's a gunner, and you won't have time to train her with magic either. Sadly, that's all I can say for Doll.
Where?: You can only get her if you play as Red.

White Rose
Looks: A girl with curly white/pink hair
Best Job: Magician, really. Since she's a mystic, you can't get her to learn any weapon skills, so what else can she do?
Where?: You can only get her if you play as Asellus.

Gen
Looks: A brown-haired guy in a white tee and brown pants
Best Job: Swordsman, easily. He learns very fast, grows very strong, and you'll probably use him quite often if you get him. I never did, but then again, I don't like Gen.
Where?: You get him automatically if you play as T26O. Otherwise, you'll find him in Scrap. You need to be looking for the Arcane cards to get him.

Fei-on
Looks: Like Odion from YGO. Er... a bald man in green.
Bast Job: Brawler. He's great with his fists, which is good, since he sucks at everything else. I generally avoid him, because swords are so much better than fists, but if you want DSC, he might be worth looking into.
Where?: In Tanzer. You must be looking into the Runes to get him.

Illdon
Looks: Like a vampire with green hair
Best Job: None. As a mystic, he can't learn much of anything. He's not good with magic, and he's worse with a weapon. I gave him a gun just so he didn't feel like a total loser, but he just is unless you invest carefully in him.
Where?: You can only get him if you play as Asellus.

Dr. Nusakan
Looks: Like a scientist with black hair
Best Job: Magician or gunman. He's also a mystic, but he can at least shoot things well. He comes with Arcane magic, but it won't help much if you're going for the Runes. Generally, though, I seem to miss getting him until my party's full to the brim.
Where?: In Koorong. You'll have to be looking for the Runes, oddly enough, and he won't join if you're Asellus for some reason.

Cotton
Looks: Like a fluffy white... thing
Best Job: Cotton's a monster, so he can't do anything except morph. Your best bet is to turn him into a Triceratops early so you get a pretty powerful ally quickly.
Where?: In the Bio lab in Shrike.

Sei
Looks: Like a skeleton and a skeleton enemy.
Best Job: Also a monster. See previous, but keep his abilities, as they're useful.
Where?: Sei's Tomb, in Shrike. You'll need to acquire three items in his tomb before you can get him, though.

Zozma
Looks: Like a red-haired elf.
Best Job: He's a mystic, so he'll do best with magic. If you want, give him a gun, too.
Where?: You can only get him if you play as Asellus.

Slime
Looks: Like a purple puddle.
Best Job: Slime's a monster, so see Sei or Cotton's section.
Where?: In Tanzer, after you get the Vitality Rune. You must be looking for the Runes in order to activate Tanzer.

Princess Rei
Looks: Like a Chinese woman with purple hair.
Best Job: Magician by far. She comes with Mirage magic, which are like FF's summon spells, so stick with those.
Where?: In Devin, but you can only get her if you play as Asellus.

Time Lord
Looks: Like a dude completely dressed in blue, with blue hair.
Best Job: Magician/Fighter combo. He's strong, but his true power lies in his Overdrive spell.
Where?: In his realm, but you can't get him if you're Blue.

Kylin
Looks: Like a horse/dog.
Best Job: Magician/Fighter, like Time Lord. He's very strong, but he's also a monster. I never morphed him, because his current form just kicks butt.
Where?: In his realm, but you can't get him if you're Blue.

Dr. Leon
Looks: Like a robot.
Best Job: Healer. He can heal all mechs pretty well, but if you want a strong fighter, you'll need to rely on a Hyperion bazooka, and there aren't many in this game.
Where?: In the last dungeon in T26O's scenario. You can only get him if you play as T26O.

Engineer Car
Looks: Like a go-cart.
Best Job: Shooter. He has tons of multi-ranged attackes, so you'll probably be able to kill off entire hoards of weaker monsters in one shot!
Where?: In Nakajima Robotics, but you can't get him unless you have 1 mech already in your party.

Mesarathim
Looks: Like a grey mermaid.
Best Job: Healer. Her rune magic is pretty invaluable, and with the exception of PhantasmShot, most of her magic is supportive. Her Life Rain is invaluable, especially in long battles. Just make sure you have a ton of Life Candies.
Where?: In Owmi, but you must have 1 mystic with you before she'll join.

Thunder
Looks: Like an orange ogre.
Best Job: Thunder's a monster, so see Cotton's bio for what to do.
Where?: In Yorkland, but you must have Lute in your party before he'll join you.

The Captain
Looks: Like a blonde pirate woman.
Best Job: Shooter. I never actually used her, but she's equipped with guns.
Where?: You can only get her if you're Lute. You get her if you go to Nelson.
