In May 2004
many members and guests had the pleasure of visiting Bishopthorpe Palace,
home to the Archbishops of York. Of particular interest was the series of
Archbishops’ arms in stained glass, of which the latest seven were created
with encouragement from the Society. The arms of the archbishops from 1514 to
1995 are presented here in sets of eight. In general the arms shown agree
with the stained glass depictions rather than other sources. Comments,
